Biography

The deSoto men have been soldiers back at least as far as the Civil War. Dylan’s father was a Vietnam veteran, and after the war ascended to the rank of Colonel. He fathered Dylan late in life, but had high hopes for him regardless – a spot at West Point was reserved for him before he was even born. Dylan grew up marching, shooting, running, and doing push-ups.

It got really old. Shortly before he graduated from high school, Dylan ran away, hopping a bus from his nice home in Arlington to Miami, intending to work a freighter to some sun-drenched Caribbean island. He found a freighter, all right, but it turns out that the Jamaicans who owned the boat weren’t running rum, they were trafficking people – to a Vampire Court. Long story short, Dylan was infected, escaped with the help of Jessica Olmstead, and has been a drifter ever since.

His fight to retain the most basic parts of his humanity has recently been aided by a big biker named Maggie Johannsen, who connected him with the Order of St. Giles. He's now a monster hunter, using his powers and training to fight the Darkness. He's also trying to dodge the Colonel's 'investigators', who are trying to bring him home... by extreme methods, if necessary.

Editor's Notes

The character of Dylan was based strongly on Bo McConnell. I liked the character for my crew of pre-gen San Francisco Paranet characters for use at KublaCon and elsewhere, but did not feel comfortable with using someone else's character for that. Any and all similarities are intentional and should be construed as a compliment to the originator of the character. That said, I don't know that there's room for two ex-military(ish) infected vampires at one table, so if Bo is in play, Dylan will probably be "out of town". Bo gets priority.
